The Apollo Civic Theatre is a jewel in the heart of Martinsburg, WV. It is a key asset to the community, bringing theatre to life, enhancing artistic skills and building the spirit of the area.

About the Theatre

The Apollo Civic Theatre was opened on January 11, 1914 with a grand vision of delighting the area with community talent. It continues as a wonderful focal point for community entertainment and a reflection of the quality of life in Martinsburg, as well as appealing broadly to the surrounding area. The Theatre has been expanded and modernized a number of times over the years and maintains the beauty and spirit of a great theater house. The Apollo is a proud member of the AACT—American Association of Civic Theatre.

Shows and Events

Upcoming events at the Apollo include the following:

  • “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”–live and on-stage in the month of April.

This musical comedy has its focus on a fictional spelling bee set in a middle school somewhere in the middle of America. Six quirky kids compete in the spelling bee, run by three equally quirky adults. You’ll love the music and the laughter.

  • “Noises Off”–live and on-stage in the month of May.

This hilarious comedic farce will have you laughing for weeks! Three crazy acts full of action and full of laughs. It is a staple of both professional and community theatre groups on both sides of the Atlantic.

  • “Titanic The Musical”–live and on-stage in the month of July.

You remember the glorious music and the movie. This play has been performed on Broadway and will delight your heart. This production is the Theatre’s Youth Summer Theater production.

  • “Apolloween”—our traditional series of fun Halloween-themed activities through October.
