At Miller’s Residential Creations, our goal is to turn your dream into a reality. No matter unconventional your idea, we want to bring your vision to life. That’s just what we did with this Quonset Hut in Hedgesville, West Virginia.

  • Worked with the client, structural engineer and Berkeley County code officials to ensure the home was structural sound and met or exceeded code standards
  • Spent nine months planning and engineering before construction was started to ensure no delays or unforeseen conditions were encountered
  • Engineered structural bracing to attach the wooden end walls to the metal structure using existing bolt holes to ensure there are no water penetration issues
  • Engineered a conventional wood floor system to allow a crawl space underneath and also tie the foundation walls together to resist outward force due to the shape of the building
  • Utilized closed cell spray foam insulation throughout to prevent condensation as well as insulate the two story Great Room ceiling
  • 1948 finished square feet
  • 395 square feet of Attic space
  • 2 bedroom (possibly 3) with 3 full baths
  • End walls were set back into the metal building to create covered porches front and rear
  • False beams in Great Room to hide electric wiring and mount ceiling fans and track lighting.  No penetrations in metal building
